This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. Firstly we explored the Chinese Zodiac and how the Jade Emperor named each year after an animal in a race. We learnt how to say Happy New Year in chinese. We learnt all about Chinese New Year traditions including the food, decorations, clothing but the best part of the celebrations; the Dragon Dance! We then attempted to make our own Dragon which we used in PE to practice movement and working together skills; the children were absolutely brilliant at making the Dragon move and no one tripped over the person in front!
Next week we will continue our Chinese celebrations with food tasting, mask making and lucky red envelopes. We will be hosting a Chinese New Year themed assembly on Thursday at 3pm in the main hall and there will be a special appearance from another Dragon?!
In PE we also practised our balance and coordination skills; working with a partner to copy their moves!
And we made a healthy fruit salad which we enjoyed for our morning snack!
Have a great weekend
