Dear All,

What a fantastic final week of term it has been. There was of course the pirate party to celebrate not only the end of our topic, but also to celebrate the year as a whole! However, the learning hasn’t stopped and the children of Beech class have been continuing to deepen their knowledge and understanding…

In Maths, we have been learning about money; recognising coins and notes and working out amounts by counting money. We have also compared coins by playing a dice game…

We have also been lucky enough to spend some time with Chantal, exploring the wildlife area outside our classroom and using our observational skills to draw different plants…

In English, the children have enjoyed reading, writing and performing a range of different Pirate Poems and Songs. Here are some of the children performing a funny poem about useless pirates…

Can I take this opportunity to thank ALL the children of Beech Class for making my time in the class so enjoyable and memorable. I have loved every minute of it and I can say with confidence that they have been my most favourite class (so far!) I am looking forward to continuing to work with some of them next year. A big thank you also to all the parents for making me feel welcome, helping with reading, coming on trips and generally supporting all the learning that takes place in the classroom!

All that is left to say now is have a fantastic summer break. (ONE MORE DAY TO GO!)

Mr Smith, Miss Carter, and the Year 1 team.
