Hedgehogs – Spring 1
Welcome back to the Spring term! We hope you all had a great Christmas break and feel refreshed and ready to head into a new term!
Please find attached our jigsaw for this term. We have lots of exciting learning opportunities coming up so stay tuned for letters and more information coming home soon!
Despite a 3 day week we have been very busy in Hedgehogs class! We have delved deeper into our instructional writing and our text, How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth. As part of our computing and coding work, we have been looking at instructions and algorithms through the preparation of jam sandwiches! The children worked incredibly hard to instruct the Mr Skinner 4000 sandwich making machine before writing their own and showing us how it’s done! Lots of happy (although sticky) faces!
In maths we looked at tally charts and data collection as part of our place value work. We had great fun finding out what pets we have at home. However, we did find trying to fit a particular child’s 83 hounds in a tally chart quite tricky!
This term we are looking at transport and travel and will be taking a school trip to Bristol to look at the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge. A letter is being written and will be sent home once numbers and information is confirmed.
Homework has been given out to those whose homework books we had. The remainder of the homework grids to be given out will be sent home tomorrow so apologies for the delay.
As we know a lot of children received exciting new digital devices such as tablets, playstations and other electronic games consoles from Father Christmas, we would like to share some information about online E-Safety from the NSPCC and Playstation websites. Both websites offer advice for parents on how to place restrictions on certain applications and ensure children are playing safely on their devices.

As always, if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to pop into Hedgehogs class before or after school!
Here’s to a great new term!
