Welcome back to Hedgehogs class everyone!

we’ve had a great week sharing our news and hitting the ground running with our new maths topic on measurements and place value.

Lots of wonderful team work as always from Hedgehogs class as we explore how millilitres, litres, grams and kilograms work through some hands on learning with capacity and weight.

We’ve begun our new topic on Night and Day by having a great discussion about what we do at different times of the day. Again, super effort from all to take turns sharing ideas and thoughts about where to order the different events. A word to parents that you might want to check bedtimes though as we apparently have a lot of late night readers sneaking in another chapter or two in Hedgehogs class!!

In English we’ve started a new book called ‘The Disgusting Sandwich’ and have really enjoyed exploring new ways to describe and inform people of how truly disgusting this sandwich is! I hope no one feels too queasy over the next few weeks as we’ll be writing our own instructions on how to make the grossest sandwich of all! Plenty of descriptions about pondweed, bird poo and rotten fish to come! Yuck!

Our school trip letter has been sent electronically so I hope all will be able to receive this and sent confirmation soon. I’d also like to say thank you to those who have offered their support as a parent helper. We are currently looking into the numbers we will need and will contact if we need extra support. Again, thank you for your support both at home, school and beyond.

Next week we are looking forward to exploring noun phrases in English, Working with data to create different charts and comparisons in maths, learning more about how night and days works on planet Earth and an exciting author visitor on Friday!

Have a great weekend everyone and welcome back to school!

Best wishes,

Joe Skinner and the Year 2 team.
