Hedgehogs Summer 2 – Week 4
A drizzly week in Hedgehogs class but we’ve certainly made the most of it!
The highlight of our week was definitely our brilliant trip to the Eden Project. We had lots of fun and learnt so much about our wonderful world, how we use plants in so many different ways and why we need to protect our planet. Our favourite bit was the Rainforest biome, that is until it became too hot up on the balcony! We also really enjoyed listening to a storyteller in the Mediterranean biome, learning more about how plants help us in the Core and A big thank you to our parent helpers who made the day go smoothly and especially to the children for representing Chagford School so well.
This week we have also enjoyed some fun investigations in our maths work looking at the properties of shapes, place value and playing games with our friends. As always, the children have been supportive of each other and enjoyed learning and sharing what they find together.
In English we’ve been getting very involved with some truly disgusting description! We have created our own instructions for a disgusting lollypop and describing just how gross it is! From rubbing it between Mr Turner’s toes after Athletics club, to rolling it through soggy, rotten grass clippings we have really enjoyed exploring the power words have to make us visualise, express ourselves and also feel sick too!
Next week we are really looking forward to our Animation week! Each afternoon we will be mixing across the school and working with Maureen Selwood, an award winning animator from LA, who will be directing us in the medium of film and animation.
We hope you’ve had a great weekend everyone!
