Another exciting week here at Chagford Primary!
Beech and Yew classes went on a walk around Chagford spotting hares, we had a visit by a biblical sower (he’s just outside the office if you haven’t met him) and Year 6 went on a river walk. Unfortunately, our Netball and Football Tournaments were cancelled due to the weather forecast, which was a great shame.
We were delighted to have 111 children choosing to have a school lunch on Thursday. This was really important for our government funding. Emily L, Kit and I had a lovely birthday cake to share with the children too! Why not have a school lunch every day? I do, and I can vouch that they are tasty and nutritious.
We are holding our School Harvest Service up at the Church on Wednesday 9th October at 11.00am. Parents are welcome to attend, and any parents available to walk up with us will be very much appreciated. We will be leaving here at 10.30am. In the spirit of generosity and caring for those in need, we ask that families bring in canned or packet goods for our local foodbank.
All children need to come to school every day with waterproof coats. We are out in the weather at break and lunch time unless it’s torrential!
New Three Hares Logo
Our School Council have been discussing designing a Three Hares logo. They have gathered ideas from their classes and are going to present them to Mrs Underwood next week. I know we have artistic and imaginative parents out there too! If you have any suggestions, or would like to sketch some designs we would be happy to include these as well.
Are you entitled to Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that we can support our disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers.
The Pupil Premium is allocated by the amount of children we have who are:
- Entitled to, or have been entitled to free school meals;
- Children of those who are, or have been in the Armed Services;
- Children who are, or have been in Local Authority care or are subject to adoption, special guardianship order, child arrangement order or a residence order.
The most common reason a pupil receives Pupil Premium funding at our school is because a parent is registered as receiving a benefit that entitles them to free school meals.
All children in KS1 receive a free school meal, under the UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meals) Scheme. However, if you receive certain benefits we can still receive pupil premium funding, but you MUST fill in all the details on the free school meal form online via the Devon Citizens Portal at https://oneonline.devon.gov.uk/CCSCitizenPortal_LIVE/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fCCSCitizenPortal_live.
