The week started with a very thought provoking assembly led by Birch Class. They told us all about plastic pollution in our seas and what the group Surfers Against Sewage are doing to combat this. They encouraged us all to pick up rubbish, recycle, repurpose and reuse, but most importantly to try to use less single use plastic. This is a Global Goal for us all to adopt.
A message from Mrs Underwood, our Executive Head
We are currently reviewing our Behaviour and Anti-Bullying policies in line with Anti-Bullying Week next week. In conjunction with this we are reviewing the Code of Conduct for Parents, visitors and Governors as we believe staff, parents and children are entitled to a safe and protective environment in which to learn and work. Please come along to our workshop on Tuesday at 2.45pm to find out more about this.
Please call us each day before 9.00am if your child is absent from school. Miss Jackson is spending a lot of time ringing parents to follow up absence in order to complete the daily registers.
If you were unable to come to a parents meeting this week, please arrange a convenient time to meet with your child’s class teacher.
The week ended with our netball and football teams representing Chagford at the tournaments held at North Tawton. We are very proud of their hard work and perseverance, despite their slight disappointment at not coming first!
Cribs and Angels
To get us in the Christmas spirit, here’s a project you may wish to get involved in! The church would like as many different designs of crib (nativity scene) and angels as possible for their display. We will be creating nativity scenes in school and creating angles for Exeter Cathedral as well! If you would like to make an angel or nativity at home, we would love to include these in the display. They are needed before Thursday 21st November, so please either take them to the church, or to school and we will take them up for you. Classes will be visiting the display on Friday 22nd November.
There is a PTFA meeting this coming Monday (11th November) at 7.00pm at the Three Crowns. We will be discussing the Christmas Fayre which is taking place on Wednesday 4th December at the School Hall 3.30 – 5.00pm. We are hoping to get some crafters in selling their items so if anyone knows someone who would like a table, then please put them in touch (firstname.lastname@example.org). Many thanks, Claire.
