This week has been an exciting one for Oak class. There has been lots more live sessions and the class’s engagement in these lessons has been really fun. Learning is just so much better as a shared experience.
We started our book study of the Iron man this week. Mr Frewin has been really enjoying reading the story over google classroom and receiving some fantastic examples of work.
Leading on from our poetry topic we have been primarily looking at the poetic techniques Ted Hughes uses to bring the story to life. We have looked at metaphors and similes and the children have been using them in their own writing. Check out Ollie’s fantastic piece of writing from a seagull’s perspective. Can you spot his two similes?
We gave the children a choice of tasks one of them was to write a poem using Rhyming couplets. George went a step further and not only included rhyming couplets but also all of the poetic devices we have been studying. Superb effort George.
