Hello everyone, welcome back!
It was great to see everyone after the Easter holidays, and hear what Oak class got up to - it sounds like everyone made the most of the weather and had a fantastic break! This week we've been lucky enough to have a few special visitors. On Wednesday, we had a visit from authors and illustrators Sarah McIntyre and Philip Reeve - you may recognise them from books such as Grumpycorn, The Legend of Kevin, Pugs of the Frozen North, and Utterly Dark. Sarah and Philip gave a fantastic assembly to all of KS2 in the morning. We listened to some of their new book, had a go at drawing our own mystical steeds, and even created our own board game for Kevin the flying pony! In class, we kept our author hats on and created our own 'Legend of Kevin' stories. As Kevin LOVES custard creams, we may have had a few ourselves to help inspire us to write his next adventure! Sarah and Philip also signed copies of the children's books - it was lovely to see how passionate they are about reading, and these authors. We also met Lydia this week, who will be directing a production of 'A Midsummer night's dream', which the whole school will be starring in, in one way or another. Lydia talked us through how our movements can help build a character, and show an audience who we are playing. We're really looking forward to working with her more, and getting ready to perform! Don't forget - no school on Monday as it's a bank holiday! Enjoy the long weekend everyone, and see you on Tuesday! Miss Paddon
