What a busy yet wonderful half-term! It has been brilliant to see how Oak class have stepped up to the challenge of Year 3, learning new routines and exploring new and exciting learning!
This week we took our trip the Church to celebrate Harvest Festival and to share what we are thankful for. We explored addition with up to 3-digit numbers and discovered how to use the senses when writing a description of a setting. We also took advantage of the wonderful autumnal colours on our playground; the leaves have been falling fast and heavy this week, so we found some of our favourite leaves and used them to create some beautiful pieces of art. Using oil pastels, we chose colours that we could see within our leaves to blend and smudge.
Next half term, we will begin our Geography unit, Villages, Towns and Cities. I would like to ask the children to try and find some interesting facts about Chagford and its history as a town to share for our first lesson. We will continue with addition and subtraction, using number lines and number bonds to 10 as quick recall really helps the children with this. We will continue our story writing with a wordless book called The Journey. This is full of beautiful illustrations and hidden meanings.
Reading 3 times per week really is helping the children with their quizzes and progress, the quiz can be taken at home using their login details and really helps the children progress through the Accelerated Reader levels.
Have a wonderful half-term!
