It was a very busy week in Hawthorn Class this week. For starters, the children learnt about Remembrance Day and the impact of war on different people all over the world. On Wednesday (Armistice Day) the class shared the 2 minutes of silence with the rest of the school with real reflection and maturity, with some children sharing the names of family members they wanted to remember especially.
In class, the children really wowed the adults with their independent research on volcanoes! The classroom looks fantastic with the posters they did for homework, and this has really fed into the their writing. We have been writing our own stories based on Michael Morphurgo's Mimi and the Mountain Dragon, with a particular focus on speech punctuation. I can't wait to read the finished stories! Finally, a huge thank you to Hawthorn Class for such an upbeat end to the week, enjoying our non-uniform day for Children in Need and learning the song Feliz Navidad to gulp start getting us into the festive spirit!
