Roman warriors and willow lanterns

A very creative week in Hawthorn class this week. A particular highlight was making lanterns from willow, rushes and tissue paper - a huge thank you to Linda for showing us how to weave and tie the frames for these! They are looking great already and no doubt will be looking spectacular in time for the Christmas lantern parade. 

We have also...

• challenged our knowledge of numbers that are prime, composite, square and cube
• started reading 'Earth Verse' by Sally M. Walker - a favourite from last year, we've focused on the explanation texts this time so that we can write our own about Volcanoes and Earthquakes
• learnt about how carnivores, herbivores and omnivores have different teeth
• learnt new vocabulary in French for different articles of clothing
• studied M.C Escher's optical illusions
• learnt about how to write musical notation on a stave

Today, we also made a Roman tortoise army formation since we have all finished our shields! See photos below of all the fun we had!
