It was a fun-filled week in Hawthorn Class last week, as we went out exploring Forest School as part of our Science and Art work this week. We identified many a living thing using the acronym MRS NERG...or MRS GREN...which do you prefer?! The children took some great close-up photos which I've posted below. We're going to use these to do close-up studies of nature, just like the photographer Levon Biss. Levon Biss zooms in so much with his photography, that we were able to see all the textures and tiny little hairs/eyes etc. of each insect. Some of if made us go "Wow!", some of it made us go "Eurgh!" I'm really looking forward to seeing the children's artwork, once they've had a chance to zoom in close on their own photos!
We also began our new topic on Climate and the children did so well to remember a lot of new terminology, such as the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, the Greenwich Meridian and lines of latitude and longitude. We then discussed which climates we'd find on which areas of the globe. To be continued this week! Keep up the wonderful efforts at school and at home everyone - we are really looking forward to seeing all your faces during our live lessons this week on Google Classroom. We can't wait for everyone to be back together on March 8th. One week to go! Take care and stay safe, Mrs Robertson
