What a week we have had in Hawthorn - lots to learn but I am very impressed with how well the children have taken it all in their stride. This week, we've had great fun placing flowers in jars of food colouring and predicting how it will impact the petals in the long run. One of the scientific skills that we practised was observational drawing. There were some thoughtful discussions in class and impressive concentration as the children really focussed on drawing what they saw up close, not just a quick impression.
Another highlight was the OCRA team visiting us to challenge the class with sprinting, standing long jump, throwing javelins and long distance running. Everyone did so well and persevered even when it was tough - they were so determined to finish each event. Their sportsmanship during that morning was also excellent, cheering each other on and giving plenty of socially distanced high-fives! Keep up the great attitude, Hawthorn.
