Hello again everyone!
It was wonderful to see everyone again this week, and to hear about what everyone got up to during the Christmas holidays - it sounds like you all had a fantastic time. As lovely as it was to have a rest, I was equally pleased to get back into school to continue with our learning! This week, we began to look at Multiplication and Division, and used dried pasta to help us recap on using equal groups in order to multiply - I think it gave everyone an appetite before lunchtime! In English, we finished our topic based on 'The Snowman', by using speech marks to show the conversation The Snowman might have had with the boy in the story. From next week in English we will be starting a new topic and book, which I am very excited for - I hope Oak class enjoy the book as much as I already have. In History, we started our new topic on the Shang dynasty, and learnt all about writing in the Shang dynasty. We learnt that they used symbols (called characters) to write things, rather than using individual letters, and we used these symbols to tell our own short story. Next week, we will also be starting our new Science topic, which will be all about Sound. Just a bit of house-keeping... as it has been feeling much colder recently, if possible please could you send your children into school with either a coat, or another extra jacket/fleece which they could use at break and lunch time. That way we will be better prepared for breaktimes or other time spent outside, even if it is a little chilly! See you all on Monday! Miss Paddon
