Dear Year Three Families,
Welcome back! Your children are, as always, a delight and have bounced back in to school this week with enthusiasm! Our new term brings some new topics to get our teeth stuck in to. In Geography we will learning about rivers: how they are formed; their features; how they are used and facts about some of the world’s most well-known rivers. In Science will be learning about rocks: different types and features; how they are formed, where they are found and how they are used. We continue to follow the White Rose Maths curriculum, do log on to Times Table Rock Stars at home as this is a great support to learning. This term in English lessons we are specifically promoting the love of reading. The class will be reading Otto the Book Bear and Library Lion. In RE the children are studying the story of Noah and The Ark and what it teaches Christians, we are also reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, a classic favourite with lots of themes to discuss. The children are really enjoying learning French with Mrs Robertson, and their weekly art projects with Mr Dray. Music is a challenge with limits on what we can do at the moment, but Miss Rowe works hard to make lessons engaging and fun. Mr Anstil is still able to lead our sports lesson on Mondays with equipment being cleaned between sessions. We are delighted that we have been able to recruit Chloe Barton and Wes Frewin who will share the class teacher role. Miss Barton will be joining us next week and Mr Frewin will be joining in December. Both are known to the school and the children as they have both been supply teachers here. We will organise an opportunity later this term for you to meet them both, even if just virtually. With best wishes Tara Penny and Lisa Rowe
