![]() A busy time – as ever – for Years 4 and 5! MATHS: The children are currently working on Fractions in White Rose Maths and have recently tackled improper fractions and mixed numbers. ENGLISH: We have continued with our book, “The Man Who Walked Between the Towers”, by Mordicai Gerstein about the famous French tightrope walker Philippe Petit. The children are now looking at producing a piece of persuasive writing in the form of a court speech when Petit defends his actions. BOOK CLUB: We are moving forward with our book, “The Wonderling”, by Mira Bartok. Arthur and Trinket are free, having escaped through the hole in the Outer Wall. They have agreed to follow their own destinies – for now – but hope to meet up later. Arthur has just been befriended by the rather shady rat Quintus. Can he be trusted though? HISTORY: Birch Class continue to learn about The Benin Kingdom that existed in Nigeria. They have looked at the Transatlantic Slave Trade and how people were shipped across the ocean to toil in very harsh conditions. For their recent HOME LEARNING project, the children have created some wonderful Benin-inspired masks and plaques. Please also enjoy a photo of their previous HOME LEARNING project – inspired by Medieval Monarchs. Until next time. Kind regards, Mr Dray
