Birch Class Blog – Year 4/5:
Another busy few weeks for Year 4 and 5! MATHS: Birch Class have recently completed the Multiplication and Division unit in White Rose Maths and have just started to look at Perimeter and Area. ENGLISH: We have continued to look at our book, “The Man Who Walked Between the Towers”, by Mordicai Gerstein about the famous tightrope walker Philippe Petit. The children have now completed neat versions of their diary entries in role using alliteration, personification and similes. These are ready to go up on display. BOOK CLUB: We have continued to look at our book, “The Wonderling”, by Mira Bartok. We have discovered this week that the evil Miss Carbuncle was actually a good person long ago. Can this be true?! Arthur and Trinket continue their adventures and have now found a hole in the Outer Wall. Could this be their route to freedom? We`re about to find out. Exciting stuff! HISTORY: Birch Class continue to learn about The Benin Kingdom that existed in Western Nigeria. They have discovered that the Kingdom became powerful on the trade of firearms and gunpowder. We have just started to look at the differences and similarities between European and Benin Art. Until next time. Best wishes, Mr Dray
