Welcome back to a new term in Yew Tree Class!
It’s been lovely settling back into school and hearing about all of the exciting Easter adventures the children have had!
This week in English, we have been exploring our new book, ‘Mad about Minibeasts’ which is a lovely poetry book full of riddles and exciting description. Over the next two weeks we are going to be developing our descriptive skills to write a piece of poetry describing an animal of our choice.
In Maths, we have been exploring how to read data and use it to answer questions. We began with a survey into our favourite fruits which we will then be passing on to Mrs Wiseman so we can have more of the fruit we like in our snack box. It was great to see some real life maths happening and the children really enjoying the collection and understanding of data too!
In the afternoons, we have been practicing our cricket skills with Andy in our cricket workshop, beginning our Eco car challenge and preparing for our class assembly which is next Thursday 2nd May at 3:00pm. We hope to see you there!
Finally, next week we are looking forward to exploring our new text in greater detail, understanding more about data, beginning our Science topic on Plants and lots more!
Please also find attached below our Jigsaw for this term, and a copy of the letter which we sent out recently about collecting recyclable materials for our eco-car project. We would appreciate anything you can send in so thank you in advance!
Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!
Joe Skinner and the Year 2/3 team.
