We’ve had a great week in Yew Tree class!

In English, we have created our own instructions on how to look after an animal of our own choice and used a huge range of exciting verbs, adjectives and adverbs to describe and excite our readers! Keep an eye out for a class copy of these instructions coming soon with some wonderful illustrations too!

In Maths, we have been exploring take away using place value to help us with bigger and bigger numbers! Lots of support across year groups this week again and also lots of ‘I really love maths’ comments too! Long may that continue!

In Science, we have been exploring light with Year 3 and reflective surfaces while the Year 2’s have been thinking about different food types and the importance of a balanced diet. We also had Chantelle in for a visit who taught us lots about different leaves and about the wonderful bugs and insects who help with the decomposition process. A big thank you to Chantelle for this session and for our new class pets! We now are the proud owners of cockroaches, crickets and stick insects to name a few!

In PE, we have been exploring gymnastics through different games and passing in preparation for the Year 3 Rugby festival which was sadly postponed. The festival has been rescheduled for Tuesday 27th November so please check the school comms system/the office for more information.

In PHSE, we have also been looking into what bullying may look like and how we can make things better for others on the playground. There were lots of very sensible discussions going on and some excellent ideas on how we can help out as a school and team. Keep up the great work Yew Tree!

Finally, we are looking forward to Parent’s Evening next week on Tuesday the 13th and Wednesday the 14th. Please could all parents sign up in the office for a slot so we can meet to share how well your children are doing and support them in achieving further as the year progresses.

Next week, we are also looking forward to Anti-Bullying week, exploring how shadows are formed, a new book in English and lots more!

Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!

Best wishes,

Joe Skinner and the Year 2/3 team.
