Our PE and Sport Premium
Following the success of the London 2012 Olympics the government agreed to fund primary schools to provide a lasting legacy from the games and develop children’s enjoyment of sport and physical activity from an early age. The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013- 2020 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The PE and Sport Allocation is funding provided to schools in addition to main school funding. From April 2013 each school in England received a block sum of £16,000, whatever size or designation, plus £10 per pupil. The funding is ring fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and Sport in schools.
At Chagford Church of England Primary School we allocate our Sport Premium to further enhance our PE curriculum and provide children with a wider variety of sporting and adventurous activities. It is hoped that the additional provision will support children’s academic progress, social skills and well-being. The report below detail how this funding has been spent and the impact this has had.
