TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCES
In September 2020, the school launched its new curriculum, which has been carefully planned and sequenced to be ambitious for all pupil groups. The resources that teachers are able to access should reflect the school's intention to instill a love of learning in children, enabling them to gain the requisite skills to be successful, independent and motivated learners, in readiness for their next stage of education and beyond.
It will come as no surprise that the school urgently needs additional up to date IT equipment. The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust has recently agreed to supply the school with one class set of Chromebooks, but the school really needs to have a second set, and update the rest of its existing supply of IT equipment.
Should the school need to close a 'bubble' or even close completely due to Covid19, it very much wants to provide a greatly improved online learning experience. This can only realistically be achieved with the correct hardware in place in order to teach the children and train the staff how to access the learning platform. We feel that all children should have access to their own device at home in order to allow 'blended learning' between home and school to take place. Class tablets would enable children to readily access a wide variety of apps to enrich and support their learning whilst enabling staff to safely and easily take photos and upload evidence to your child’s (children’s) learning records.
In respect of literacy, we have already secured funds for the Babcock Library Services and Accelerated Reader programme to be reinstated. Many thanks to our generous parents and to the PTFA respectively for getting this in place so quickly. The children will benefit enormously from these services.
In addition, there will be an ongoing supply of curriculum artefacts and resources that will be required, such as skipping ropes, bats and balls, moulds of teeth, globes, historical artefacts and so on. These will be available to buy from the school’s Amazon Wish List in collaboration with the PTFA (please refer back to our main fundraising page for more details) and will be updated regularly. Buying just one skipping rope will make a difference, and the school is enormously grateful to everyone who can help. Together it all adds up.
Thank you for your support!
