We’ve had another fantastic week in Birch Class! In History, we were looking very deeply into the causes of World War Two, deciding which we felt was the most important reason for the start of World War 2. Was it the unfairness of the Treaty of Versailles that caused the war or was it Hitler’s invading parts of Europe?
We had our first lesson with coach Mr Ansell from Saints – we enjoyed playing a few team games on a very hot day! In Science, we started working scientifically. We planned an investigation, controlled the variables as best we could, and then went outside to conduct the investigation: Which colour flower do pollinators prefer? It’s been a fantastic first week back in Birch class! I’ve been amazed by how brilliantly the children have taken coming back to school; they taken everything in their stride this week and it’s almost as if they haven’t been away!
‘Do one thing every day that puts you outside of your comfort zone’ has been the main message of the week as we work on developing our resilience and a growth mindset. There have been cold showers, challenging maths investigations, fantastic art with Mr Dray and music with Miss Rowe. They’ve all made a brilliant start to Y6 and are really setting a great example for the rest of the school. I think we can expect great things from this lovely bunch this year – I’m excited! Mr B |
