Lantern Parade Arrangements - Thursday 10th December 2020

Dear families,
 
With the disappointment of not being able to have a Christmas production, we are really excited to be able to put on an evening event this Christmas in the form of a Lantern Parade. As you will appreciate, it has to fully comply with COVID restrictions. Parents must wear masks and keep 2 meters away from other parents and children.  I have registered this event with our local police department and they will be monitoring for safety.
 
These are the details:

• School finishes at the usual time, art club and netball club are on as usual and finish at 4.30pm.
• Please bring your children back to school at 5.45pm where they will meet and be registered in their bubbles at the front of the school. Oak Class by the side door, Hawthorn Class in front of Yew Class, Beech in front of Beech Class, Birch in front of the hall. Please can children wear festive clothes; warm and sparkly! Children will then parade through the town in their class bubbles. Parents are to be an audience albeit at a distance!
• We will parade up through the town, stopping to sing at various points. We will end at The Pepper Pot. Reception and nursery children are to stay with their parents and meet up with FSU staff at the Pepper Pot and join in the songs.
• We will dismiss all children after Rev Paul’s blessing at the Pepper Pot. Teachers will tick children off their registers as you collect them and then you are free to take your children and head home.
• Children will be carrying the lanterns they have made in school. These are then yours to keep – a lovely festive ornament! I know Rev Paul is arranging a church event on Christmas Eve, so if you are able to, please keep your lantern for another parade!
• We have a photographer and a reporter from the Moorlander coming and members of Chagford’s Conservation Group have kindly offered to help with stewarding.

 
This event is an alternative to a Christmas production and we would love all children and parents to attend. If you have any questions, please speak to me or Miss Rowe.
 
So far, the weather looks like it will be dry – please keep your fingers crossed! We are looking forward to seeing you there for some much needed Christmas cheer!
