Good afternoon,
Beech class have been exceptionally busy this week! Christmas is quickly creeping up on us and so, in preparation, Beech class had a lantern making lesson on Monday. They have created the frames for their lanterns, which we will be covering with tissue paper and decorating in the coming days. In Maths, the year 1 children have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and have been learning how to sort them into groups (Please see images below). Year 2 have been working very hard on their learning about money and even had a hunt to find money hidden around the classroom! In Literacy, the children have written their own riddles and created Kenning poems. Please do ask your children if they can challenge you to solve their riddle. Below is the riddle they wrote as a class, can you guess what the fruit?

This week across the school we learnt about anti-bullying. In Beech class, we discussed this and who you can go to for help if you need it. This is such an important message and one we would be very grateful for you to reinforce at home too.
In English, we have been studying poetry, we read a funny poem called ‘My Newt’. It turns out the animal they thought was a newt wasn’t one at all! The poem is below if you want to read it. We have also been learning about rhyming words, can you challenge your children to think of any at home? There have been lots of changes at school and the children have been coping exceptionally well with these. Miss Fitzgerald has been very impressed by the class. When I have video called them, it has been lovely to see their smiling faces. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Miss Coleman |
