Beech Class have made a wonderful start to online learning. It has been a real pleasure to see so many children getting involved and uploading work that they have completed at home. Well done to you all, I am so proud of you. The week beginning Monday 11th January 2021, we started reading a new book in English, it was called 'The Runaway Iceberg'. We enjoyed it so much that we did lots of learning linked to the book. First, we has to use our remembering skills to retell the story. Here are some of our storyboards: Next, we thought about how we could recruit new explorers. We also thought about what adjectives we could use to describe a suitable candidate. To finish off English for the week, we moved on to non-fiction writing and wrote our own penguin fact files. There were lots of different penguin species to choose from (one child even chose a penguin which is now extinct!). Here are some for you to read: As we were enjoying our English topic so much, we also linked our Science and Art learning to it. In Art, we created our own icescapes. We had to be quite patient creating all the icebergs! Some children even drew Gaspar and Rossi from the story and added them to their icescapes. Then, in Science, we completed an ice melting challenge. We had to try using different methods to melt ice, including using salt and sugar, and decide which method melted the ice the fastest. It was great fun. Please look at some of the pictures of our Art and Science below: I am so impressed by all your hard work, keep it up Beech Class!
