This week was the grand finale to our Solar System build up; after many dress rehearsals, we finally filmed our production of The Solar System in all it's glory! I will be working slavishly on the final cut over the weekend and will be presenting it to you our eagerly awaiting audience on Monday morning when you arrive to drop off, but in the meantime here are a few photos... We have also been making our own model of the Solar System, complete with twinkly stars (not Christmas lights; that's next week!) And I think we are quite confident that all the children know the order of the planets from the sun now... We have also been making lanterns for the lantern parade on the 10th December... ...and we have been continuing with our phonics and reading throughout the week.
Have a lovely weekend all and see you next week. Sara and the FSU Team

We have continued our topic about Space and the children are enjoying the activities and challenges we have been setting around the theme. Last week we were learning the names of 2D shapes, this week we have been learning the names of 3D shapes; cube, cylinder and sphere or Sophia as it has now been renamed! The children then went on a shape hunt around the class, trying to find something either cubic, cylindrical or spherical. We have also been practising our solar system song and combining it with interpretive dance; watch this space for our performance coming soon! We are continuing with our phonics lessons and have learnt all the sounds in the alphabet now. Children are beginning to read books in class and bring books home to share with you and show off their skills!
Wishing you all a great weekend Sara and the FSU team Welcome....to...Space!! This week we have been completely immersed in Space!!! The children are really enjoying our new topic and have blown us all away with their knowledge and their ability to learn. We have been learning all about the solar system this week and each child has chosen a planet and they have been learning all about themselves! We have also been learning a song all about the solar system; you may have heard them singing it... "We are the soooolar system!" We then made a planet each, which we hope to use in our version of the solar system production! We also celebrated Children In Need on Friday...Tina and I spent the day In our onesies and I for one think we should do it more often! But on a serious note, we talked to the children about why we have Children In Need day. To celebrate we joined in with Joe Wicks 24 hour PE challenge and we made a chocolate, crunchy, biscuity, sprinkly, marshmallowy thing which was very exciting... We hope you have a great weekend and we'll see you next week.
Sara and the FSU team There goes our first week back, in the blink of an eye! Thank you all for your support with the new guidelines and mask wearing rules; it's tricky for the children to see us like this but they, as usual, have been awesome and taken everything in their stride. This week we have been busy talking about bonfire night and staying safe around fire. We then made our own fire pictures... Our theme this term is Space and we began our topic by looking at rocket ships that take us into outer space. In our maths sessions we have been looking at and naming 2D shapes then today we used 2D shapes to create our own rocket and outer space pictures... We have been practising our reading and writing skills in our Sounds Books and Literacy Books; everyone of the children has been so enthusiastic with their writing it's been hard to get them too do anything else!
We then finished the week with a party to celebrate Harry's 5th birthday; chocolate coins a plenty for the winners of musical statues, musical chairs and the best dancer! Have a great weekend and we'll see you next week for more fun and learning! Sara and the FSU Team PS just a couple of pictures of our maths and self portraits… |
